Asalamualaykum wa Rahmatullah,
This half term, our theme is ‘Autumn’. We will encourage the children to notice seasonal changes and our activities will include conker rolling, leaf printing, Autumn tree painting, making a stick man, discussing animals (owls, hedgehogs and squirrels) we might see in the Autumn, and Autumn colours. The children will have the opportunity to try lots of different Autumn related crafts throughout the topic to extend their learning. We will share different fantastic stories with them: WOW! Said the owl, the very helpful hedgehog, I’m not reading! and Stick Man etc.
Children learn so much from their environment, so be sure to talk to them about the trees and leaves on your way to school. Please let your child bring in anything that is Autumn related such as leaves, acorns, twigs etc. We will collect the sticks from big playground and make our own stick man. Exploring the outdoor environment and finding natural resources will help them to move confidently, negotiate space, practice control and co-ordination in bending and stretching.
In Maths we will be measuring and comparing the sticks by length, from the shortest to the longest.
Phonics phase 1: Aspect 1: General Sound Discrimination – Environmental Sounds
The aim of this aspect is to raise children’s awareness of the sounds around them and to develop their listening skills. Activities will include going on a listening walk, comparing the sounds and making shakers.
In Nursery we are also learning how to put on our coats. Please ensure your child brings a coat every day.
Every Thursday a story book will be sent home for you to share with your child. Kindly make sure your child brings a book bag on this day.
If you have any question or concern in relation to your child’s learning, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of Nursery staff!
