Drama Hut Workshop

Asalaam Alaykum parents I pray you are well.

This week has most certainly been a busy one. Here is how the week went.

Drama Hut/History

We were very lucky to invite a member from drama hut to perform and do activities with the children based on The Great Fire of London (GFOL) Children acted out as if they lived during 1666 and how would they react if a great fire came over London. Our guest even dressed up as Thomas Farriner the baker and Samuel Pepys.

The children had a wonderful time and was a lovely way of learning new facts about the GFOL.

In English we have come to the end of reading Yeh Shen and the Magic fish, children have really been enjoying working on the book writing letters, play scripts, character and setting descriptions. Next week we will begin planning and writing our own story based on Yeh Shen and the magic fish. This is the first-time children will be writing a story therefore we will go into detail about what is required in the planning of a story.

This week we have been learning to add and subtract 11 and 21 to a number. Mash Allah children have grasped adding and subtracting 10, 20 and 30. Once we have mastered this using a 100 square the emphasis will be more on working these out mentally. Next week we will be learning about position and movement such as left, right, clockwise and anti-clockwise.

For this week’s science lesson, we went around the classroom and looked at the uses of different materials. Children were able to describe a material and the possible things it could be used for.

GL Assessment

On Thursday we started our GL assessments. This is the first time this year children have used the chrome book. In the back of the homework book the children’s email and password have been stuck. If possible, please get the children to practice typing their email addresses as this is what tend to slow them down.
