Half Term Homework and Updates!

Asalaam Alaykum parents I pray you are well. Alhamdulilah we have made it to the half term!
This post will be regarding homework, some extra things you can do in the half term and reminders.

This week children completed a reading, writing, maths and grammar assessment. This was to show me where children have progressed and what areas I need to focus more on.

While marking maths papers I’ve come to see Children need more practise on addition and subtraction, by this I mean adding 2 digit numbers to 1 digit. E.g 46 + 4 =   55 – 3 =.
In the homework pack I have provided some mental maths sheets for the children to do. Please revise bonds to 10 and 20 (numbers that add to make 10 and 20) children must be familiar with these by now.

I would like children to also practise their 2, 5 and 10 x table. I will be doing a test of these time tables when the children come back. Ideally by the end of year 2, all children should know their times tables up to 4.

In the homework pack I have also provided some grammar sheets of what we have learnt this term for instance, commas in a list and questions, command and statements. With this there is also a comprehension task on the Great Fire of London, which will be our main topic next term.

My main request for you is to READ with the children everyday. Next term I will be looking to move children up a band or 2 InshaAllah.

Also, I would like to request on the first week back can all children please bring a  500ml plastic water bottle (Evian or whatever brand) we will be doing an art project which requires these!

JazakhAllah for all your support this half term and I look forward to seeing you in autumn 2!

Jazakum Allahu Khayran
