Jack and the Beanstalk and fundraising week!

Asalaamualyakum parents, we hope you have had a wonderful week,

We have had a very eventful week as it was fundraising week here at Suffah primary school! Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the fundraising. This week Reception have continued to look at the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and we have explored the story deeper to encourage the children’s understanding. This week the children have started to learn how to count in 2s during carpet time and our free flow play time.

Let’s go through the week….

On Monday it was CRAZY Hat day, we got to see all the amazing and creative hats Reception made at home, well done to everyone who made a hat and wore it to school!! During the day we made some more crazy hats for our friends and family, and we then joined the whole school for a assembly where we all showed off our crazy hats and the winner announced!

We had some outdoor fun doing a weaving activity, digging, painting and counting in 2s!

On Tuesday the children wrote numbers in 2s that they have been learning in the new maths books, we then enjoyed our circuit training activity in the hall as part of fundraising week, the children all got points and worked hard in each activity. We also wrote some words on leaves from the story which we then added to our beanstalk.

words of the week!

On Wednesday the children worked hard on their understanding of the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We took part in a sequencing activity of the story and some children even wrote down their understanding of the story in their literacy books. We did some excising to strengthen our muscles, we later role played the story as a class using our role play masks and using dialogue from the story

On Thursday we wrote letters to the Giant’s mum thanking her for helping Jack, we had some outdoor fun in the digging area and mud kitchen. The children also used their sounds to form words using magnetic letters.

On Friday the children learnt about the importance of respecting and taking care of our parents as they try their best to support us in everyday life. We then did a colouring sheet on the dua for our parents. For P.E we did some running exercises and ran around the cones and had a few races.

Snack time reminder: please do bring healthy food items that does not include NUTS as Suffah Primary and Early Years is a Nut Free school.

This term we would appreciate if parents and carers can bring any old cereal boxes, cartons, bottles or any old junk as we use these for out junk modelling activities.

We have had another hardworking week from Reception, Jack and the Beanstalk and also from all the activities from our fundraising week! In sha Allah we will see you next week, we hope you have a good weekend!

JazakAllah Khair, Reception Team!
