Jack and The Beanstalk

Asalaamualyakum parents, we hope you are safe and well.

Alhumdulillah we now say goodbye to winter and hello to spring as it is now our Spring Term! This week we welcome back our lovely Reception class and hope you all had a wonderful winter break and a very happy new year!

We have had a very short but proactive week full of excitement and so much new learning Ma sha Allah.  This week we have been learning about the story of Jack and The Beanstalk, here is a image of our Beanstalk display!

We heard all about all the fun and exciting things the children got up to during the winter break, it was lovely reading all of your holiday dairy books full of so much creativity and beautiful handwriting JazakAllah Khair to all children, parents and carers for making the effort.

Let’s go through the week…

On Wednesday it was the first day back to school, we got to hear all the excitement Reception got up on their winter break, which the children then wrote in their weekend news books about what they did and all the fun they had! During our carpet time we spoke about the new year as we are now in the year 2020 Alhumdulillah and spoke about the fireworks as many children went to see the fireworks for on New Years Eve. The children engaged in a fireworks painting activity from the fireworks we saw on New Year’s Eve and day. We also created a number Beanstalk where the children counted and put beans on the correct number.

On Thursday we spoke about how plants grow and the children told us that they are taking very good care of their plants at home that they made last term. The children got busy with green paint and drew their own plant drawings similar to the beanstalk! Reception got messy with bean separating and counting in our Tuff Tray, this activity allowed the children to develop their fine motor skills as well as their counting!

We also had some outdoor fun and enjoyed the new spring weather!

On Friday we learnt about the Fifth Pillar of Islam, Hajj and learnt about the importance of preforming this beautiful pilgrimage once in our lifetime, we also spoke about the Kaabah and why it is so special to us. The children then colored in a sheet of the Kaabah as part of our morning activity. For P.E this week we did some running exercises and warm ups, we used our parachute the children were able to use their arm movements to push the parachute up and down, Nursery also joined us!

Please note:

Snack time: please do bring healthy food items that does not include NUTS as Suffah Primary and Early Years is a Nut Free school.

This term we would appreciate if parents and carers can bring any old cereal boxes, cartons, bottles or any old junk as we use these for out junk modelling activities.

Once again welcome back Reception we are so happy you are all back in school and look forward to seeing all your hard work this term. Next week we will continue to look at the story of Jack and The Beanstalk, we have many activities and exciting learning opportunities to come! In sha Allah we will see you next week, we hope you have a restful weekend!

JazakAllah Khair, Reception Team!
