Lets go through the week..

On Monday the children wrote about their weekend in their weekend news books, we encouraged the children to use the sounds they have been learning during our phonics lessons and the tricky words they have learnt to form sentences.

Some children made Little Red Riding Hood ‘hoods’ from red tissue paper.

We set the story on our Tuff Tray

We enjoyed the cold outdoors with Lego bricks and warm water play, we had some imaginative play and used our sound cards to practice our phonics sounds and letters outside too!

On Tuesday the children got busy with numbers, the children did an activity sheet that involves colouring in the right amount of boxes.

We played a game of 25 little monkeys jumping on the bed, which developed our counting skills.

We explored the outdoors with water and some red sand and got very messy making delicious cupcakes!

On Wednesday the children made Little Red Riding Hood’s basket, we used cut out materials to weave the baskets and make patterns, some children got very creative and made their own baskets and created their own designs.

This week, the children sequenced the story of Little Red Riding Hood by drawing their own images and writing their own words to explain their understanding of what happened in the story. The children were very creative and drew scary wolfs and Little Red Riding Hood.

The children all got involved in role playing the story of Little Red Riding Hood, we used our role playing character masks of the Wolf, Red Riding Hood, Grandma and the Woodcutter. We used dialogue from the story and used our acting skills!

On Thursday the children wrote a shopping list for Little Red Riding Hood’s Grandma, to buy the ingredients for Grandma’s famous Fruit Salad. The children got busy writing all their favourite fruits and drawing the fruits they like the most. We also went to the library and took out books to read over the weekend- please ensure to bring these books back next week as we will be going to the library once again.

We had some outdoor fun playing football and some children pretended to be builders by using a basket to carry and pull bricks up and down.

In the afternoon the children made Grandma’s Fruit Salad, we got busy cutting fruit and mixing! If you would like to make Grandma’s Fruit Salad, please follow the recipe:

Pack of strawberries

Pack of grapes

2 bananas

2 apples

Method – use a knife to cut your ingredients up into slices and mix altogether in a bowl, enjoy!

We hope you all enjoyed your fruit salad!

On Friday the children learnt about The Second Pillar of Islam (Salah). We learnt about the Five Daily Prayers and the Timings of Fajr, Dhur, Asr, Maghrib and Isha. The children worked on a colouring sheet and coloured in the colour of the sky during each prayer time.

The children also did some painting, we used different shaped stamps and the children created lovely paintings using the shapes. For P.E this week the children developed their movements, we jumped like frogs and crawled using our hands and feet.

The children used wind streamers to exercise their arms and muscles, we used circular arm actions and learnt how to control our body movements.

Alhumdulillah we have had an excellent week with Reception. Next week we will continue to work on the story of Little Red Riding Hood as we have so much more we would like to do next week. In Sha Allah we hope to see all of you next week and we hope you have a restful weekend!
