Police Officers and The End of Term!

Asalamuaykum parents!

We hope you are all safe and well and have had a good week. Alhumdulillah we have had a hard working week from Reception and we have enjoyed all of the online teaching. Our topic this week is learning about police officers who help us. When speaking to the children we learnt that police officers help us by keeping us safe and they arrest people that do bad acts by putting them away in jail.

We set work in the activity packs for the children to do relating to police officers, let’s go through the week and see some of your amazing work!

Monday’s activity involved writing about your weekend and all the fun you had, well done for your lovely work!

On Tuesday’s we learnt about 2D and 3D shapes and the differences they have for example 2D shapes are ‘flat’ and 3D shapes are ‘fat’. Our Tuesday activity involved colouring all the 2D and 3D shapes in different colours, again well done for everyone for producing such beautiful work!

On Wednesday we learnt more about police officers and what they do for us, and for our activity we wrote a missing person’s report about Michael, well done for your good work!

On Thursday we made police badges, hats and cars using the shapes on your sheet. We hope the children enjoyed role playing as police officers,  let’s have a look at some of your amazing art work!

On Friday we learnt about the importance of ‘Tahara’ which means ‘cleanliness’. We spoke about how we should keep ourselves clean and here some examples of the things children said they should do;

  • taking a shower
  • Washing hands
  • Brushing your teeth when you wake up and sleep
  • Also cleaning your environment such as your room, home, outside etc.

Please do practice the following Surahs that Reception have been learning this term over the spring break;

  • Surah Anas
  • Surah Falaq
  • Surah Iklas

Also practice your daily duas and read every morning and night, in sha Allah.

  • Dua before eating and after
  • Dua for our parents
  • Dua for waking up
  • Dua for sleeping
  • Dua for leaving the house and coming back home

We have also started our online phonics lessons this week and the children have done so well to remember all of their letters and sounds! Please do continue to practice these sounds at home with your children and encourage them with reading and writing at home, in sha Allah.

Alhumdulillah, we have now come to the end of another hard working term from Reception! Next term we will be, in sha Allah, entering the beautiful and holy month of Ramadan therefore we will be learning all about Ramadan and Eid. Online learning will continue in sha Allah, and we have many creative and exciting activities for the children to have a go at!

Until then please do work at home with the children by practicing their phonics sounds, forming letters, numbers and practicing your surahs! We have also given two handwriting booklets, for high frequency words and tricky words. These are for the children to practice their handwriting, and we would appreciate it if they could be completed over the holidays.

Please don’t forget to send us any work that the children produce, we would love to see them! You can send these to reception@suffahprimaryschool.co.uk

And we would like to give a huge Thank You to all of the parents for helping both the teachers and the children in this tough time. We know it hasn’t been easy but we appreciate all of your efforts, and we hope to keep each other in our duas; in sha Allah we will all get through this!

We hope you have a restful break and stay safe during this time in sha Allah. Summer 1 term will start on Tuesday 21st April.

JazakAllah Khair

Reception team!
