School Council and Prefects!

Asalaam Alaykum parents I pray you are all well!
This is what we have been up to this week:

English
We have been continuing reading Beegu, so far children are really enjoying this book and every lesson look forward to reading more. Children have learnt how to write diary entries and have written their own diary entry as Beegu. We have also been practising words beginning with the sound ‘kn’ and ‘gn’. Yesterday children learnt how to make a story map which will be very useful when it comes to writing their own story! Next week InshaAllah we will be writing letters, postcards and doing some more role play based on Beegu.

Children taking part in freeze frames.

Maths
In maths we have been revising bonds to 10. MashAllah children remember these very well. We also moved onto bonds to 20 and 100. This is something we will practise often to consolidate. I would like parents to work on 2,5 and 10 times table with your children. It is important they know these timetables in year 2.

Science/history
In science we are continuing learning about the human life cycle and what humans need in order to stay healthy. We will be looking into nutrition a lot deeper next week InshaAllah.
In history we are doing an exciting topic “explorers”. Last week we looked at the life of Christopher Columbus and soon Neil Armstrong and Ibn Battuta!

School council and prefects
This is week children prepared a speech to run for school council. MashAllah we had lots of children participate. I was really impressed with what they wanted to improve about the school and what kind of people they wanted to be! The voting was very close and I’m happy to announce year 2 school council is Ibrahim and Haaniya! Welldone!

Prefects are children who always show good behaviour, manners and always try their best. I’m also happy to announce the prefects for year 2 are Zayd and Amal! Welldone!

A polite reminder, please when reading with children you sign in their journal. This is so myself and Ust Ghazala knows which children have been read with at home.

Jazakum Allahu Khayran
