The Three Little Pigs Week!

This week Reception have been learning about the story of the three little pigs and we have continued to do many fun activities with the children!

We have been celebrating Friendship Week here at Suffah Primary school. Reception learnt about the importance of being kind to one another and sharing and caring for each other. We introduced our kindness jar this week, each child participated in doing a kind act for a friend and as a result their name was put in the kindness jar. The children were then rewarded some very shiny stickers!

Let’s go through the week…

On Monday we spoke about the fun we had on our weekend during our morning carpet time. The children then wrote about their weekend and told us what they did. We also made a straw house using straw, paper and cardboard. The children then created their own interpretation of a straw house.

We used our Tuff Tray for the children to play out the story of The Three Little Pigs.

We had some outdoor fun building the Big Pigs ‘brick house’

On Tuesday the children created their own stick house by drawing their own version of a house and added sticks to their drawing to create a stick house.

The children explored outside by doing some digging and making dinner for their friends in the ‘mud kitchen’

Reception also came into school with their unique socks as it was Odd Socks Day as part of our Friendship Week! JazakAllah Khair to all for taking part in the course.

We also worked hard to build our numeracy skills. We all took part in a adding activity, where the children counted the images on their paper and wrote down the total.

On Wednesday the children improved on their story sequencing skills as we worked on sequencing our story of the week. We also improved our cutting skills and understanding of the story.

The children got messy with paint and created the little pigs brick house.

We opened up our afternoon library, and all children have taken a book home to read. Please ensure all parents and children read these books together.

On Thursday we created a big ‘brick house’. The children used sponges stamped with a the brick shape to do this, and we all worked together to achieve this.

In the afternoon we did a cooking activity, the children made The Three Little pigs straw, stick and brick houses. If you would like to make this at home follow our recipe:

3 Crackers – base of the brick, stick and straw house.

Cheese cream -lightly spread this onto the cracker

Kidney beans – for the brick house

Breadsticks– for the straw house

Pretzel sticks – for the stick house

On Friday it was Plant a Tree Day and non-uniform day. Reception learnt about about the importance of trees and taking care of them and made their own tree using green and brown paint.

Reception are working really hard in Qur’an and Arabic Studies, we have been looking at the Arabic letters and going through Surah Fatiha and Surah Al-Nas. Ustadah Aicha has set Reception some Homework for this week, which is to complete the coloring in sheet – please can all parents ensure the children do this and bring it back to school on Wednesday.

Alhumdulillah a lovely week with Reception and the Three Little Pigs, next week we will be working on the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. In Sha Allah we hope to see all of you next week and we hope you have good weekend!

JazakAllah Khair from Ustadah Naveeda, Ustadah Kausar and Ustadah Fawziya.
