Theme of the Week
Each week during the Monday school assembly, I introduce a new theme. The themes are taken from a book called ‘Tokens of Wisdom’ which is a condensed version of Imam Nawawi’s famous ‘Riyadh us Saliheen’. During the week, after each Dhuhr Salah, I lead the pupils for 10 minutes each day to reflect on the same theme as part of our Tarbiyya programme. Pupils from Y3 – Y6 participate in listening and sharing their experiences related to the theme. Class teachers highlight the theme in their subjects during the week where the link can be made. They also spend a few minutes at the end of the day discussing it with their class.
This week’s theme – Being Generous to Everyone
In this theme, pupils will learn (in a child friendly manner) that: Generosity is giving willingly, freely and cheerfully without being asked to give. It can be giving money, time, talents and education to others that are in need. It can be sharing your company and being friends with someone who you see alone. By being generous, Allah will reward you with Jannah. The more you give the more you will get. So give freely, freely as you have received freely freely! Allah says: “He will replace whatever you give in charity; He is the best of providers’.” (34:39). Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan so that He may multiply it to him many times? And it is Allah that decreases or increases (your provisions), and unto Him you shall return (2/245).”
When the pupils come home each day, ask them to share what they have learnt about the theme.
