Year 3 Week 5 and Half-Term Homework

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Dear Parents,

Thank you for all your support during Summer 1.

We are very proud of the Year 3 pupils and of the enormous effort they put in whatever they do mashaAllah.

Week 5 and Half-term Homework have been set up for your child to continue to progress harmoniously and reinforce their learning.

The Homework is due back by 2nd June.  Please encourage your child to submit their work in time.

WEEK 5 HOMEWORK:
1. Plant Art Project: Watch the PowerPoint and choose either Task 1 or Task. Emailed to the children with all instructions included.

2. Spelling List Week 5
Word families based on root words ‘scop’ and ‘spect’

scope
telescope
microscope
horoscope
periscope
inspect
spectator
respect
perspective
spectacles
They need to practise them in their book by writing each word three times. Can they make any sentences including these new words? This might help with their Thesaurus Thinking!

HALF-TERM HOMEWORK:
1. English Half Term Homework
Write instructions in your book: How to Draw a Tree
(You have to use the slides 18 and 19 from the Plant Art Project in order to understand the method but you need to write your instructions in your own words)
Please refer to the English Half-Term Homework for instructions and Success Criteria.

2. Spellings:
Word families based on root words ‘press’ and ‘vent’

Can they explain which strategies they are going to use to remember them?

press
suppress
express
compress
impress
prevent
invent
venture
adventure
eventful

It is compulsory to learn and practise the new spellings (one new set per week) and the English written work to reinforce their learning.

The Art Project is not compulsory but highly recommended. It develops observational skills, improves their general knowledge, it helps appreciate the world around us and the beauty of Allah’s creation. Art is highly therapeutic as well as helps in discovering new skills.

All the files have been emailed to your child and will be uploaded in Google Classroom.

Enjoy a lovely half-term and a joyful Eid.
