Welcome back Reception, we hope you all have had a wonderful half term holiday!

This week Reception have been working on the story Rainbow Fish. We have learnt so much about different fish and their patterns.

Lets go through the week..

On Monday Reception were all so happy and excited to be back so we started our week with an art activity, the children decorated their own Rainbow fish by using the colours of their choice. They also got messy with some sequins and added them to their fish. The children’s beautiful fishes have been displayed on our Art board, Ma Sha Allah.

The children explored messy play with ‘Jelly Baff’ and learned about undersea creatures in our tuff tray.

On Tuesday we continued to learn about the story of the Rainbow Fish, the children did an activity which involved sequencing the story. The children independently cut the pictures and put them in order. They continued to learn about patterns on different types of fish and we did an activity that involved creating our own patterns on a fish which we have displayed on our classroom wall.

In the afternoon the children went on a fish number hunt and were asked to find the numbers from 1-10 and order them, they also wrote down the numbers they found on the fish using their clipboards.

On Wednesday we continued to look at patterns and the children created more patterns on a fish. We also had fun in the outdoor Autumn weather.

On Thursday the children practiced their cutting skills by colouring the patterns on fishes and cutting them out. They also learned about simple repeated patterns and they hunted for patterns in the environment. We also did counting up to 10, forwards and backwards.

On Friday the children learnt about the importance of saying Alhumdulillah after finishing a task. The children colored in a poster that will remind them to say Alhumdulillah.

For P.E the children played the ‘Traffic Light’ game and used their listening skills to either go, stop or freeze. The children did some throwing and catching using a ball and, practiced balancing and jumping.

The children have been doing really well in Qur’an and Arabic Studies with Ustadah Aicha, the children have continued to learn the letters Alif, Baa, Taa, Thaa and Jeem, and this week have also learnt the letters Haa, Khaa, Daal, Thaal.

Alhumdulillah Reception have worked really hard on their first week back and we hope this will continue throughout the term. Next week we will be focusing on the story of the Gruffalo and have many more exciting things to come throughout the week. Please do read the weekly books with your child and sign the diary. In Sha Allah we hope to see all of you next week and we hope you have a fantastic and restful weekend!

JazakAllah Khair from Ustadha Naveeda, Ustadha Kausar and Ustadha Fawziya.
