Asalaamualyakum parents!
We hope you have had a great week so far and are looking forward to the weekend! We have had yet again a very hardworking and adventurous week from Reception. We have been learning about the Story of The Ugly Duckling and have seen so much creativity from all your children, the children have learned the importance of respecting others and treating everyone the same as in the story we learned that not everyone was kind to the ugly duckling as he was different. Reception now understand to embrace their differences as we are all unique and different in our own ways, Ma Sha Allah!
Let’s go through the week…
We had a very Messy Monday as we got messy with some yellow and black paint creating our own ducks! We got messy with ‘jelly buff’ and ducks in our tuff tray. The children wrote about their weekend in their weekend news books and what an amazing time they had, it’s always lovely to hear about what Reception get up to without us!

We had some more outdoor fun with ducks, digging and bubbles!

On Tuesday we created more ducks using yellow paper and tissue paper, the children independently drew their own ducks and developed their fine motor skills by scrunching up the tissue paper and sticking it onto their duck,s and added some googly eyes! We also created shapes using playdough and practiced our adding skills for our maths activity.

We then lined up to buy some milk for the market for 2p, each child picked up the correct coin to pay for their milk.

On Wednesday, we continued to do some more beautiful writing as we wrote sorry letters to the Ugly Duckling. We also continued to make more ducks on the art table. We had a lovely time at the library this week as we read books together and took some books home, please do read these books and bring them back next week!

On Thursday the children did some more writing and wrote a shopping list for all the ingredients for our cooking activity which involved making cheese Toasties…yummy!
We all worked hard to make our cheese toasties, if you would like to make your own cheese toasties please follow our recipe;
1 brown bread slice
Butter- spread this onto your bread
1 square of cheddar cheese
Pop this into your toaster maker and enjoy!

On Friday we learned about the Actions of Salah, and how we should preform our five daily Salahs, and we learned about the saying of Takbir. For P.E we did some running and jumping exercises, we also used a parachute and practiced pushing this up and down.

Next Friday is the last day of term, children are welcome to dress up and bring food for the end of term party!
Abdullah our classroom Teddy Bear has been taken home by one of the children for the weekend. Please do take lots of pictures with some writing about what you did with Abdullah and bring this back on Monday so you can tell us all the fun you had with him during the weekend!

RECEPTION HAS BEEN GIVEN A SMALL AMOUNT OF HOMEWORK THIS WEEK PLEASE DO HELP YOUR CHILDREN TO DO THE HOMEWORK AND BRING IT BACK ON MONDAY PLEASE.
Alhamdulillah we have had another hard working week from Reception, please do continue to ensure you do your homework and read your books at home! Next week we will continue to work on the story of the Ugly Duckling, In sha Allah we will see you next week. We hope you have a restful weekend!
