Week 6 – Summer 2

Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrated: Messengerﷺ of Allah said, ”Allah does not look at your shape and figures, nor at your clothes but He looks at your hearts and deeds.”

Dear Year 4 Families,

Assalamu Alaikum

What an amazingly fun and adventurous week we had, Alhamdulillah! The children enjoyed a fun-filled move-up day on Wednesday morning where they had the opportunities to learn new things about Year 5. Needless to say they returned to class with ear-to-ear smiles on their faces, MashaAllah. I am sure you must have had some excitingly engaging conversations with your children about our trip to the Chessington World of Adventures already. I can’t express in words my joy of witnessing and experiencing the sparks of anticipations in our children’s eyes, their thrill, their excitement and more importantly, their eagerness to explore every inch of the theme park. I am delighted to share that it was an incredibly successful and memorable end-of-year trip.

I am excited to say that the Year 4 remains the only class to go on the 6 most wonderful and challenging rides in four hours window frame. The children had an amazing day and I am pleased to confirm that every part of the trip was a huge success, Alhamdulillah! We reached our destination at the expected time and the journey was smooth and fun. We were the second in line for our first ride (Dragon’s Fury) and third in line for the second (Cobra). They returned from the rides with beaming smiles and high spirits. Of course, there were screams and laughter all the way too.

The children then went onto enjoying the Tuk Tuk Turmoil before heading for the Scorpion Express; both of which were super hit with our children. Some children went on to enjoy the Tuk Tuk Turmoil as many as 5 times in a row. We took our much needed lunch break at 12:00 PM before heading to our next adventurous Zufari ride where we enjoyed looking at the most beautiful giraffes, rhinos and some other amazing animals. The children were all in awe for a long time and couldn’t believe how big some of these animals are in real life.

Our next ride was the infamous Gruffalo River which is a water ride so a splash (or two or three…) was warmly welcomed by most of our children who were desperate for a little cool down from the scorching heat yesterday. One of our children described it as a mesmerizing and while the other called it a bit spooky. Either way, all children wanted to go on the ride again because they enjoyed it so much.

We also wanted to say a quick hello to the beautiful animals at one of the petting zoo there at the theme park but unfortunately couldn’t due to the lack of time. However, the children were able to enjoy the fun Cocomelon show with the rest of the school before heading back to our respective coaches.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all so very much for your support in sending your children to school well-prepared for the trip. I would also like to thank Sr. Farhat, our parent volunteer, for her tremendous help in keeping up with our very packed schedule and for being an incredibly kind and considerate support to our children. Without your help, this trip wouldn’t have been the success it turned out to be! I strongly believe that the children will remember this journey and trip for a long time to come in a positive way!

We are now approaching our last week of this academic year and the children have been reminded to bring in a big carrier bag to take their books home on Wednesday next week. We are hoping to catch up with our rehearsals next week before presenting the play to you all on Thursday Insha’Allah. I am proud to say that our end of year play has been written and produced by our Year 4 pupils themselves. I am sure that they will make you all proud, Insha’Allah!

JazakAllah Khairun

Our Learning Journal

We have now completed all our learning units successfully Alhamdulillah! Next week we are going to revise, catch up on any missed lessons and continue with our play rehearsals, Insha’Allah.

Polite Reminder

  • End of Year Assembly will be on 21st July 2022 – Updates will be sent near the event.
  • The children without PE clothes are not allowed to take part in the PE lessons. Please ensure that your child comes into school in full PE kit on Friday.
  • Homework is not an option, it’s compulsory. Please ensure that you remind your child to complete their homework and turn it in on time every week. Incomplete homework will result in 5- 10 minutes of missing out on break time to finish the homework. No homework will result in no break and golden time that week.
  • Please ensure that your child brings their plimsoll to school every day. It’s a health and safety matter and we take it very seriously. Unfortunately, they won’t be able to participate in PE or other activities if they don’t have their plimsoll with them.
  • Please don’t forget to read with your child every day for at least 10 minutes and to sign your child’s reading record when they have read with you. You could write the words they found tricky during reading in the comment box. Your child would only be able to change the book if the reading record has been signed by an adult. Please do take a few moments to read the laminated card at the back of your child’s reading record. Please do ask them questions given on the card to help them think deeper.
  • Homework will be out on Friday and handed in by Wednesday each week. Children will have their spelling and times tables test every Wednesday.
  • PE is on Friday and children are expected to come into school wearing their full PE kits.
