Welcome to Week 3!
This week we learnt all about Construction! Possibly the children’s favourite week so far😊😊We spoke about all the cool and important things construction workers do and how they do it! We had lots of role play and exciting crafts…lets just say we had lots of fun this week Alhamdulilah.
Our book of the week is ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We looked at how the pigs built their houses? Which house was the strongest? Which house was the weakest?
Let us take a look at what our construction workers got up to this week!
In Phonics this week we looked at the ‘c’ ‘k’ and ‘ck’ sound. We noticed that they all sound the same but written differently. We used our whiteboards to form the sounds and used our robot arms to sound and blend words like ‘cat’ ‘duck’ ‘kit’. We also notice that the ‘ck’ sounds are two letters that sound the same.
In Maths, we looked at ‘more than’ and ‘less than’. Reception class did a great paying attention to which objects have more in them and which is less. Some children counted to see which one was correct and some children knew instantly Allahuma Barik.
As we are looking at the ‘Three little pigs’, the children were challenged to make houses out of cubes, straws and blocks. They would need to blow and see if the houses fall. And to our surprise none of the houses fell down! Until Ustadah Ayaan became the big bad wolf and blew a few down😆😆🐺
We made a constructors toolkit!
Made our very own dump truck.
Reception children all geared up for a tough day at work😆🚧👷♂️👷♀️
And made some hungry caterpillars🍀
Next week we will be looking at Fire Services and Police.
